COURSE GRADING
The final grade will be calculated from the total points for the assignments. This is a hands-on course!
The final grade will be based on percentages of total points as follows:
A.....95-100
B.....90-94
C.....85-89
D.....80-84
COURSE PREREQUISITE
This is not an introductory
computer course. You must be familiar with computers. You should know how to
launch several applications and how to cut and paste information between them.
You should know how to format a disk and make back-up copies. You should be
familiar with your operating system and know how to access the Internet.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Teachers
in this course will learn to create and edit digital movies for classroom
projects.
They will create, edit, and add text, sound, and special effects to
digital movies.
Final movies will be able to be placed on PowerPoint, on the web, and on
VHS tapes.
COURSE GOAL
The goal of this course is to have classroom teachers learn to create, adopt, manipulate, and utilize graphics to enhance their multimedia and web-based class projects.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon
completion of this course students will be able to:
1. To identify the various types of digital movies
2. To use the digital movie camera
3. To demonstrate the basics of shooting a digital movie
4. To create and edit digital movies
5. To transfer video movies between digital and analog formats
6. To incorporate sounds, text, transitions, and special effects into digital movies
7. To plan meaningful activities for utilizing digital movies with students
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Your mission is to create and
edit a digital movie.
The movie should be a minimum of thirty (60) seconds in length. It should not,
however, be any longer than 90 seconds.
The movie must have the
following characteristics:
Title with your names as the producers at the beginning (5 points)
At least one transition (5 points)
At least one sound, either built-in or CD-based (5 points)
Text signaling the end (5 points)
Credits at the end (5 points)
The edited movie should be transferred to a videotape (25 points)
The edited movie should be transferred to a zip disk (25 points)
You should type a one-paragraph summary of how you could integrate this activity into the classroom (10 points). The summary should have your name and be in FrontPage.
Attendance at all classes is expected (15 points)
