COURSE GRADING
The final grade will be calculated from the total points for the assignments. This is a hands-on course!
The final grade will be based on percentages of total points as follows:
A.....95-100
B.....90-94
C.....85-89
D.....80-84
COURSE PREREQUISITE
This is not an introductory
computer course. You must be familiar with computers. You should know how to
launch several applications and how to cut and paste information between them.
You should know how to format a disk and make back-up copies. You should be
familiar with your operating system and know how to access the Internet.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Teachers in this course will examine three main areas of the Internet as applied to the classroom. The first topic will address the use of search engines and search techniques. The second topic will examine web site evaluation to teach students how to discriminate good and bad information from the Internet. The third topic will explore the use of various communication tools such as email, chat rooms, web cams and the various implications for students.
COURSE GOAL
The goal of this course is to have classroom teachers learn how to help students search for information on the Internet, evaluate information from the Internet, and safely communicate using various tools on the Internet.
